Call several insurance companies and get quotes for that specific car. Have the model, year, VIN, mileage, and your driver's license number handy. Also you need to transfer the title of the car into your name ASAP to register it. That involves the previous title from the person you bought it from and visiting the Department of Transportation page for your state to see what forms need to be filled out. Also keep in mind you'll likely need to pay tax on the price paid for the car. Keep in mind that while you might think you're 'sticking it to the man' to tell the state you paid a lot less than you actually did, if you also tell the insurance company a low value for the car, then if there's an accident they'll also cover less fixing it. It could all bite you in the ass.

Uh oh, who with the what now? I know some things. Some of it is good and some is just enough to get myself into trouble.

It's too bad Scooter hasn't been around. He was restoring cars, so he knows a heck of a lot more than I do.

I hear ya brother.

I've been poor most my life so all I've ever had is clunkers. Case in point, $6000 was the combined cost of my last three vehicles. And they all sucked.

Next time I buy a car I'm investing in something new, or at least a very reliable used vehicle, because I'm getting pretty damn tired of the constant repairs, breakdowns, etc...

I seriously think that might be close to how much I've dumped on this car repairing it, lol. Even put in 1k in January and it's already feeling like it's just about to fall apart again. Being Acura was never fun either with some of its exotic hard to find parts, so they would get expensive having to order them.

I'm considering 2009-2011 Honda's I think. The Accord looks great, I noticed there's some newer model four door Civic's too though. That would knock off like $5,000 almost it seems so that's a little tempting. But yeah I'll take some steady payments over just throwing random bandaids on this current thing like I have been for the last several years.

Gotta love them and hate them. lol
