Get yourself a Breaker Pro disc then. It's slightly more compatible than PS-X-Change.

The Breaker Pro disc is great I've never had any issues with it.

If you're not afraid of soldering, you can install a modchip.

go to www.modchip.ca, they still sell psone modchips there. I've ordered from there before, relaly good, fast realiable service.
I'm back!

Stumbled across that site last night actually. looking at the instructions to install the mod ive definetly done much harder so I might just have to go for it for the easier boot and the $5 saved.

I'm thinking going the PS2 route and getting this.

Anyone installed one of these. I saw the basic instructions ans it look easy enough.

Just be warned that the PSOne is a little harder to mod than a PS1. I've done both, and the target points on the PSone can be much smaller and fragile. In fact, I melted one of the little resistors right off the base by just barely touching it. Chip still worked, but failed to boot like 25% of the time.

Yeah, the PSone mod it a bit tedious, but as long as you have yourself a low-wattage soldering iron, you should be set.

I've done it on a few PSones, and the only one that cam out wrong, I was able to fix afterwards. I accidentally pushed the iron onto some resistors and other chips [cause I was not paying attention] which then moved out of place. I was able to remove them completely and solder them back on. The system worked fine afterwards. Boots up 95% of the time.
I'm back!
