Non-LCD TV for Game Room?

Post by fitterhans »

With everyone getting HDTVs for every room including bathroom these days, I was wondering what steals are out there for older CRT TV. Since I am setting up a game room with classic consoles, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on non-hd sets I should keep my eye out for (in the 25"-37") that they are using. I will be looking on craigslist, so nothing to expensive (<$100). Any thoughts?

I bought a 27" widescreen Panasonic CRT for £250 over 6 years ago. So I would be very surprised if you couldn't get one for £100 brand new or even less second hand these days.

They really dont sell many crts anymore that are hd. you might find some second hand or online, but not in stores.

not sure how the walmart sales work and if all stores have the exact same products but I recently picked up a 27" RCA crt HDTV for $150 on clearance. I love it cause my saturn looks like it would on any old crt tv but I had had a friend bring his 360 so I could check out the HD quality and its pretty damn nice. It also has a built it digital signal box so high definition programming looks great too and its 4:3 aspect ratio, which is great for my classic gaming as well, No hdmi or vga though.....

So, I will have to check around. Thanks for the suggestions. Seems like there are a few models second-hand that may be in my price range.

I'll soon be in the market as well, Possibly for two identical CRTs to build a light gun Kiosk. There were some amazing shooters for the Dreamcast, that are currently dormant to the fact that I've got LCDs in the house. The second TV would be for the Co-op function available in the PS2 time Crisis series.

I really want one too, I would like it so I can have my 360 hooked up to it so I can get HD on fallout 3 and other games but on flat-screens I cant play duckhunt  I am running a 32ish SD rearprojection right now
