Put another 2 hours into this today - am really really loving it. I finally managed to figure out how to "not bomb" right before the stage 2 midboss, so now I should start getting that 4-bomb bonus.

Going for axes is a win - shoes and food seem to naturally fill out on their own. After stage 1 I usually need one or two of each, if that, so take a quick mental note of which ones and get that x3 multiplier by the end of stage 2. Stage 3 is still giving me troubles, but it's becoming more and more manageable as I keep getting there and am learning the pattern better.

Scores updated in the OP.

Looks like I am the only one who likes Solo Bang (:snicker:). I tried Karte but her damn demon charge shot thingies never go where I want them to go.

I'll continue trying on Monday (at work).

I like Solo Bang for stages 1 and 2, for that reason, much more control in getting the big gems from the bosses. I never get them w/Karte, but I usually do get them w/Solo Bang and Gremlin.

But once you get to stage 3, I like Karte's ability to attack stuff all over, her charge helpers have bailed me out many times from stuff I couldn't have gotten to w/Solo Bang's charge.

Anyways, literally dreamt about this game last night. I just feel like if I can put it all together, I can get a monster score. Now that I focus on axes in stage 1, I usually do this:
Food / Shoes complete by mid stage 2
Axes complete middle of stage 3
Accessories complete end of stage 4 (sometimes)

I'm getting the 100K midboss bonus on stage 2 occasionally now as well, though it seems everytime I get it, I don't have my multiplier going yet.

I'm no bomb passing the first 3 bosses now.

Stage 4 is just monster intensity throughout. At one point I had 3 ships in the bank and went into "just get through this stage" mentality and started playing like shit. Ended up dying w/full bombs twice in a row, just played stupid.

Anyways, I proudly (and temporarily i'm sure) take the lead:
2,294,770 - mjmjr25 - Stage 4 (boss) - Karte - 54/108 - Arcade

Nice! Damn, what a big score, and 10 items less than I had. You are completing those lists nicely!

I also like Solo Bang, but I just always score better with Karte. I only played Bang at first, for a good ten runes, and topped my high score as soon as I tried Karte. Not having to worry about my charge shots' location allows me to focus more on survival.

I only like to play Solo Bang when no one else is around

At least I'll have no trouble keeping the bottom up. This is more cerebral a shooter than I care it to be. It's like to get over 1.5 you need to have a mental shopping list of items to grab by the end of Stage 1/2/3 and save every single one of your bombs to Stage 4

Did you notice my score from the run right before my new high? 1.99 mil...I kept score checking for the extend. If id'a just played and not worried about the extend, i woulda hit it np and prob had an even higher score than my high, as I was x4 multiplying at the time :/

Sick thing is - I still don't feel like i've had a "good" run, where I had my multipliers early and hit the bonuses, I just can't string it all together yet.

That 1.8 million before Boss 2 was a fluke. I was never able to repeat that. :( Well, the month is far from over!

Oh Shiiiit. Nice man!

Did you happen to notice how many item sets you had completed at each stage?

Keep Solo Bang'in!

To be completely honest, I still have no idea what is going on with the item system. I memorize the point values of what the enemies are dropping and not the actual items themselves. During the end-of-round point tally, I just A.D.D. my way past it (button mash) and don't pay attention. I'll keep an eye out next time.
