We should get a hi-score thread going for it.
I've never played the xbla version. I didn't mind the ps2 version and I like my balloon! I'm partial to DC though.
PS2 is a port of XBLA? I've not heard that. I think it is a direct port of the DC version, minus the arrange mode, which isn't a big deal. The arcade mode plays nicely and fairly true to the arcade version, imo.

you have PS2 and DC versions Mike? Wanna sell the PS2 port?
Re: mjmjr25's Arcade and Console SHMUPS Collection
I have a high score thread for THE. But you are going to get higher scores if you are on NAOMI/DC. They changed the scoring quite a bit. They will need to be separate.mjmjr25 wrote:We should get a hi-score thread going for it.

PS2 is most definitely a port of XBLA from what I can tell. It's certainly the worst version of THE you can play, IMO.

I don't understand how it could be a port of the XBLA version? It has a standard arcade mode and XBLA did not iirc? You may be thinking that since the PS2 release was somewhat in response to the ill-received XBLA release, they are connected?ZenErik wrote:I have a high score thread for THE. Additionally, I just popped it in. It does not have the "now loading" of the DC version, so that is actually an improvement. The "missing" arrange mode is the only major difference i'm seeing (outside the addition of Faintear). And with respect the the great players, that arrange mode is a dick.

Naw, I picked up the Pre-order LE w/balloon and figure. The SE isn't costly though dude.noiseredux wrote:you have PS2 and DC versions Mike? Wanna sell the PS2 port?
Re: mjmjr25's Arcade and Console SHMUPS Collection
You may be correct. Perhaps I'll pop in the PS2 and XBLA versions after work and give em a second chance. I distinctly remember both of them just feeling completely different and not in a good way. And now Warashi no longer exists... Sad.mjmjr25 wrote: I don't understand how it could be a port of the XBLA version? It has a standard arcade mode and XBLA did not iirc? Seeing as the game goes for about $40 (ps2 version), I think i'd need $200+ on my set
Re: mjmjr25's Arcade and Console SHMUPS Collection
$150 brand new on eBay.mjmjr25 wrote:Seeing as the game goes for about $40 (ps2 version), I think i'd need $200+ on my set
Well, if you don't want to sell perhaps I will buy that one and then sell the game still sealed.
