Recently I got scammed at Amazon

Post by JC48573 »

from nain121. I actually purchased Kid Icarus for 25 dollars, but never got the item. He responded a couple of times and told me I should've gotten the package by now or something. Waited a few more days, then went ahead and filed the claim. Waste of time.

Interesting enough, I actually purchased the game today at Ebay from a certain seller. Man, went through a lot of trouble of getting the game because seller asked me if I could simply pay him directly through paypal because they kept putting his money on hold for 21 days, but it did the same thing. In the end, he decided to ship the item tomorrow because paypal has promised to remove the hold on his account. Got it pretty cheap, so I have nothing to complain.

are you sure that's even a 'scam'?

a whole number of things could be responsible for you not getting your item yet

For a second I thought a scam was going to take place.

I'm pretty sure I did. How does 43 negatives sound to you in no more than a few weeks? All complaining about not receiving their items.

But Amazon's customer service is top notch and you got your money back - right? They go out of their way for customers to make things right.

I'm pretty sure he's serious. Years ago, I bought the first four volumes of Futurama off a seller that never shipped them or whatever. It was only after the fact that I noticed the seller had multiple negative feedbacks. I emailed Amazon and explained what I just explained here. I don't remember it taking very long to get my money back.

I agree that Amazon is very pleasant to deal with. I've had two negative experiences with Amazon sellers during the last six months, but they were both dealt with promptly by the Amazon staff.

In the first instance, I ordered a SwanCrystal handheld but was sent a regular WonderSwan. I contacted the seller, no reply. I contacted Amazon, was refunded my money, and was allowed to keep the WonderSwan I received in error.

Another time, about two months ago, I ordered Ys Book I & II (Turbo CD version) from one of those Amazon-affiliated sellers. I received a cart-only copy of Ys 1 for Sega Master System. I contacted Amazon who immediately sent me return labels and refunded my money. I shipped back the Master System game and used the money to buy the correct game from a more reputable seller.

So yeah, Amazon is generally pretty good about these things.

I fail to see the big issue here. You will get your money back.

Anyway, if you ever see ZenErik on Amazon, buy immediately. 100% rating.

Absolutely serious - it is part of their business model to go above and beyond, regardless of a loss of a couple bucks (there's a good piece on them in a previous 60 minutes). It inclines folks to do more shopping (and feel real good about it) there rather than go to a B&M store.
