Tomba! on a PS3 or PS2?

Post by RyaNtheSlayA »

I'm curious if Tomba! will run on a PS3 or any model of the PS2. I know it's listed as not compatible on the PS2 but compatibility between PS2 models varies greatly. I have a PS1 but it would be preferable to just play it on my PS3 if possible (or a PS2).

If anybody could test it for me that'd be great.

As far as PS3s, the model shouldn't matter since it's all software but I have a 60gb fwiw.

If it doesn't work on either, then I guess I'll have to drag out the old grey box when I get a copy. :)

The PS3 has like 98% compatibility. There was only one game I couldn't run on it, and that was Fighter Maker. I'd say go for it, between the PC emulators and the PS3 you should be able to run it.

If all that fails, well, a PS1 is way less expensive than Toomba ;0

For ps1 games? No way. There's lots of stuff that either doesn't work or has problems.

Silent Hill has that gunshot sound problem, Tomb Raider doesn't boot at all, the ps1 port of Final Fantasy V crashes if you try to save, Final Fantasy 8 has some minor graphical problems, and these are just issues I've had with games i personally own(ed).

Bah, oh well.

I've had no problems running Tomba! on a fat PS2, SCHP 39001, and I'll try it on a PS3 later tonight.

Tomba does not work on the "fat" PS2. You can play it, however, when you go to save/load, the game will lock up. It's one of the reasons I re-purchased a PSone.

On a side note, I really wanted to like this game, but it's just too… clunky. I got maybe 10% of the way through the "quests" and gave up. It seems to be overly hyped.

Ah I see.

I'm not really worried about the hype surrounding the game. I'm mostly interested in it because it was one of my favorite games as a child and I want to re-experience it.

Oops! Sorry for the misinformation. I must've played through it longer ago than I thought.

It's cool, but if you could still test it on a PS3 that'd be great. :)
