$99 Xbox 360 /w kinect with contract to xbox live

Unfortunately its a 4gb model, make it a 250gb model and sign me up, 4gb is a joke.
Let's say you bought all the stuff separately.

Kinect $140
Xbox 360 4GB $200
2 years of Xbox Live $100 (or so)

Grand total: $440

And if you buy go with Microsoft's $99 Xbox 360 w/ subscription plan...

Xbox 360 4GB + Kinect $100
2 years of Xbox Live $360

Grand Total: $460

Practically the same deal, except you pay it off in monthly installments, basically.

OR

Xbox 360 4GB w/ Kinect Bundle $300
2 years of Xbox Live $100

Grand Total: $400

Decisions, decisions.

That is the dumbest deal I have ever heard of.

It isn't a deal at all really, it is more like leasing/renting to own the system. Pay it in minor monthly payments but end up paying more in the end.

I really don't care this is just a rumor at this point. This is Microsoft the company that will renew your xbox live after your credit card is expired. I mean how would it work? What's stooping me from buying on of these for 100 and not taking it online and being able to avoidthe subscription?

You're probably charged for the subscription at the purchase and given a code of some sort.

There are plenty of people with bad credit who wants stuff now. Witness the popularity of places like Rent-A-Center. So I can see this being appealing to those type of people.

Indeed. I mean for fuck's sake there are tire rental places. If you have basic transportation with normal sized wheels, I see reasonable 4 basic tires for $X deals all the time. People that rent tires are driving a 'status' car they can't afford on ridiculous fancy wheels with out of the ordinary sized expensive tires.

Exactly the kind of person this 360 deal will appeal to.

Well i dont rent anything or lease anything, but i would do this ONLY if it was a 250gb 360, since currently the PS3 is the better deal when it comes to price, its dumb that microsoft even offers a 4gb version that you will eventually need to buy a hdd for anyways.

I saw this on Gaf. It reminds me of a similar deal in early the 2ks when a certain ISP was offering to pay a huge chunk of a customer's new computer purchase. In return the customer would sign a 2 or 3 year contract for that ISP's dial-up service. Oh wait... that was MSN.

Most of those customers were still paying those dial-up ISP bills a year later when they had broadband. Microsoft definitely had the foresight to see the end of their MSN ISP's life cycle and lock in some extra cash.

Makes you wonder what's on the horizon for the Xbox/Xbox Live brand.

I just read an article that said the total cost after the contract was up would be about $470.
Is that more than the bundle and a normal priced 2 year subscription?
