Because I'm a rebel.

Does your rebellion include watching VHS tapes, subscribing to dial-up, and watching TV on a B&W console unit?

I tried the DOS version about 10 minutes ago and it's basically unplayable for me. I need a new style control scheme and I can't find a way to map independent left and right strafe buttons. Probably going to go ahead and just get the PSN version.

I've beaten this so many times I almost don't feel like playing it.

That said though, I did recently begin playing Spear of Destiny for the first time (weird, I know) so I'll just continue on that.

What's fun is that I'm actually playing WolfenDoom, which is a total recreation of Wolfenstein using the Doom engine. Plays very nicely with a source port, and allows for nifty things like mouse control.

I might also play Wolfenstein 2009. My friend has a copy that I can use.

Mien Leben! This was my first FPS. I loved every minute of it. I may try to play on GBA or PSP for convenience sake.

I've played Doom more than like any other game ever.

But I just can't get into Wolf3D. Just being honest. Maybe I'll attempt it again though, or play Chex Quest instead.

so I just beat Ep3... but I was playing on the default (easiest) difficulty which I figured made sense since I'm not well versed in FPS games. However, I found out that you only get trophies for playing on the next difficulty level. And if I'm gonna play my ass through this game I wanna earn those trophies. So I think I'm gonna start over on the next level up.

Did 3 levels on Ep 1 over with the GBA today. Was getting all spoiled and entitled when I started getting lost and not having a map drawn out for me as I moved. Then I forged ahead with old-school passion and found the way out.

Nice GBA features:

L-R buttons strafe
Select switches weapons
Saves after each level.

It's a pretty solid port, too bad the music couldn't be retained. Sounds and graphics are spot-on and not muddy like other PC FPS ports I've seen for the GBA (Duke Nukem Advance, Serious Sam Advance)

You have access to a Doom source port right? I'm sure you do.

Try downloading WolfenDoom and run it with a source port. You'll get to play the Wolf3d levels in the Doom style. It might feel more natural for you that way.

I'm experienced enough with both games to promise that it makes Wolf3d play like a completely different game. Which is exactly what its intended to do.

so I went back and beat Ep1 and got the trophy. The first boss was considerably harder this way haha.
