Dragon's Dogma: What Do You Think

Post by pankakes123 »

I'm EXTREMELY excited for this game. Skyrim may be massive, but not massive enough for me to not have done pretty much everything at this point. Of course, retro gaming will hold me over until May 22nd, but when Dragon's Dogma does release, most likely no one on the planet will hear from me for a few days.

Is Dragon's Dogma open world? The party system has me hesitant and these type of games are notorious for poor camera controls.

At first, I was really interested. It seemed like a cross between Monster Hunter's party hunting, Shadow of the Colossus's climbing and stabbing, and.....I guess White Knight Chronicles 3rd person perspective?

But when they announced the game was to have no co-op, my interest dropped drastically. My friends and I saw this as an alternative to Monster Hunter for the PS3. Unfortunately, those dreams were destroyed.

I'm excited for it. I don't know a whole lot about it because I don't comb through preview information like I used to, but from what I have seen it looks right up my alley.

Played the demo yesterday. Then played it again.

This is very fun and I'm tempted to make it a day one buy. However limited money and other stuff make that unlikely.

I haven't played the demo yet, as I do not have paid Xbox Live currently. However, I became interested in this upon seeing one of the videos. This seems to be one of the first games that has a true western medieval feel. By that, I mean the armoring and creatures seem to be much closer the the mythology I've always heard of...

But, looks good. Seems like a wasted chance at coop though, personally.

I know you weren't going for this, but how lame is it, that you have to pay for XBLA Gold to get a demo?

I'll get it, just... later. Like, in a week or two. I can't help it. If not for friends and already being based on this system I would have gotten a PS3.

Bumpage.

I've played the demo now, and was somewhat impressed. I was somewhat aggrivated at the fact it felt slightly... unrefined. I was happy to see the playstyle, but most of the time I felt like I was randomly flailing around and not doing well. I was happy with the grab and climb mechanic, but I was confused as to how it worked. I just kind of held the trigger and moved the stick at random until I was on the creatures head. Archery, I found, was HARD. It also felt a bit underpowered, considering the power of the melee, but I guess it is some kind of balancing.

Just some thoughts.
