PS2 Gameboy Advance Emulator in MaxPlay Disc

Post by CRTGAMER »

PS2 Gameboy Advance Emulator in MaxPlay Disc
I have a PAL MaxPlay game disc by code junkies. When extracting the files for a NTSC conversion, I found GBA Homebrew Roms in the disc. One of the games even has a GBA displayed in the instructions. The MaxPlay is also released for the PAL Gamecube, probably why the games are in GBA format.

The interesting part is that there seems to be a GBA Emulator that runs at decent speed with sound for the PS2. It would be a kick if I can substitute the homebrew games for official game roms such as Mario and install the updated disc in the PS2 Hard drive.

I read about this a while ago and found it interesting. It's also on a disc released in the US. One of the Action Replays for PS2 was released and included bonus "retro games" which I assume are these same GBA ROM's. Been meaning to track one down myself just to mess around with it.

This is indeed quite interesting.
I doubt that it would play regular GBA roms very well (and likely without sound), but I'd love to try it out. The one GBA emulator that I did find for PS2, I couldn't get to work at all.

Your idea is worth a shot though CRTGAMER. Messing around with the image file might just allow other games to be inserted. There might be a config or menu file that needs to be changed too though.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that Action Replay disc though. I'd rather not have to convert the Maxplay to NTSC (which would probably mess with the screen dimensions).

Anyways, here's another good thread I found about the Maxplay:
