Help me with the name of a PC game?

Hey. I was talking to a friend of mine about a game I had as a kid in the mid 90s. I couldn't remember the name, and he suggested that this website may be a good place to see if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

I'm expecting this to be somewhat difficult, but if you guys can help me I'll be forever grateful!

Here's a little bit of description I remember from the game:

-It was some kind of post-apocalyptic turn-based RPG
-It was very dark & gritty, I remember there being some blood splatters during battle
-The game's heroes were guys with guns (I remember a character with a rifle, one with a shotgun)
-The enemies were some kind of alien/monster creatures
-What I remember most was the title screen. The mouse was some kind of light, and the background was a 3D image of a creature's skin, and it would pulsate and move like it was breathing. The background was entirely dark but the mouse lit up a small area like a flashlight.
-The game started on a farm, I believe

So that's not a lot to work with, but maybe someone here has fond memories of such a game? It has kind of been bugging me for YEARS! Thanks you guys!

I'm probably far from right but my two guesses would be either X-com or Fallout Tactics. Hopefully someone else here would have a better idea.

Thanks for the clues. I looked up X-Com and it looks slightly familiar, but I don't think this was it. The game I remember had some rudimentary 3D graphics, if I'm remembering correctly. I also believe the beginning may have been on a farm?

I've played Fallout Tactics before, too. Great game, but not what I'm looking for. Thanks though!

The farm made me think it might be this game. Not a turn base though.

Although that Ecstatica game looks awesome, it was not it, unfortunately. The game had much grittier/darker graphics, and looked more sci-fi.
