I agree. I have no interest in anything like this. I've never used DLC, never gone online with my 360 or PS3, never used Steam... I just don't see the appeal.Arbitern1 wrote:I'm going to be one of those assholes. If a digitally only console is every released I will wont buy it! Ever! Hell ive got enough games to last the rest of my life, no use in buying a digital only console I cant enjoy 20 years for now. And nintendo? Really? I believed someone already mentioned friend codes. Anyone think Nintendo will be smart enough to discount the download titles? Sony discounts Vita game downloads by I think $5 (someone correct me if I'm wrong)... Slightly cheaper than retail but not enough to warrant going all-digital; especially with the high priced memory cards.
I'd be willing to buy digital copies of 3DS games if they were significantly cheaper. Say a new retail title at $20 instead of the usual $40? Maybe a 50% price cut sounds unreasonable but that's my max budget on download titles.

A discount in inevitable, but I highly doubt there'll be any sales or price drops post-launch. Nintendo NEVER has digital sales.Opa Opa wrote:Anyone think Nintendo will be smart enough to discount the download titles? You know, it shocked me when I first bought my PS3 that this was not the case. I assumed, I guess stupidly, that it would be slightly cheaper to buy games by download. In most cases, apart from on day one, it's actually MORE EXPENSIVE to buy games on PSN than it is to just buy it in the shops in my experience. That, to me, is downright ridiculous and doesn't make any sense. Why would anyone pay the same price, or in some cases more, for a download when they could have a physical copy of the game that they know they'll still be able to play long into the future?Opa Opa wrote:Anyone think Nintendo will be smart enough to discount the download titles?

Re: Nintendo To Switch To Digital-Only Model For Future Game
In all actually I probably wouldn't.. Not in a timely manner... My lack of caring about any new games and total hate for digital content would kill me. I mean I own thousands of mp3's but that is because they are so portable. I also own hundreds of vinyl records and I far prefer putting on a record rather than listening to mp3's...
Physical content matters allot to me. I gain almost as much pleasure displaying my games on a shelf as I do playing them. Digital only distribution would kill any chance of me buying a console. I havnt even turned on my ps3 that In two years... It's been unplugged and in my closet. But i guess I'm just strange. I Dislike music formats except for vinyl, hate digital distribution, and hate any car that has electronic fuel injection. Every car I have ever owned has been carbuerated. I know nobody shares that sentiment but me and a few other car buff. Man I am much too young to think like this. Can't wait to see what I'm like when I'm older!

Might aswell torrent the game if there is no difference between that and buying a real copy.MrPopo wrote:I'm going to be the asshole who calls you out on this. One reason they listed for selling download codes in brick and mortar stores is that there'd still be competitive pricing and promotions. Seems to me like Nintendo is counting on other entities to do the sales for them.Opa Opa wrote:Anyone think Nintendo will be smart enough to discount the download titles? As long as they continue selling physical copies as well, I'm fine with this.
