Game store in Atlanta?

Post by Brainiac 8 »

In May I will be traveling to Atlanta. Are there any retro game shops in the Atlanta area that is worth checking out? Thanks. :)

While I appreciate your help, lisalover1, having been to those, they primarily don't sell video games. I've been dating a girl who works at Oxford Comics and Games, and when they say games, they mean boardgames and table top RPGs. Retro-themed video game stores are sadly not very common in Atlanta, especially not since the local Play-N-Trade stores shut down. There is a store called Super Gater Gamz in Newnan, GA, which is a few miles south of the perimeter of Atlanta on I-85, off of exit 47. Unfortunately the really interesting things are kept in cases and usually only sold when the owner has a duplicate system, so though you may drool over the Intellivisions and Odyssey 2s, it won't help much.

Funny enough, I walked in there today and found one of the workers in a stormtrooper uniform. Strange days.

Thanks for the google info lisalover, I may try checking some of them out when I get there.

It's too bad there doesn't seem to be much there in the way of retro shops. We'll see what happens, danke!

There are only two Play-n-trades real close to Atlanta still opened. Tucker and Greenbriar Mall locations. I recommend stopping by the Tucker location as the staff is friendly and they never raise the prices so they are priced by what corporate sends, selections not the best though.

Now there are two about an hours drive from Atl but they are pretty nice and have lots in stock, the Woodstock location and the Gainesville Location.

Super Gater Gamz is also nice but they are also about an hour away from downtown Atl. Prices are a mixed bag but the owner is easy to haggle with.

CCgaming has a new location not to far from Atlanta

I generally don't like their prices but there are some good deals.

The last place I know is still opened is Gamespot

Not to bad of a place, but I don't like the new manager as he seems sleazy.

Edit:
I remembered one more,. There is a place call Plaza Fiesta that is a Hispanic mall of sorts but there is a games store that sell retro games, SON DANH - VIDEO GAMES, be careful as they do have some GBA boots. There is also a nice arcade with modern games. But its still a cool palce to visit lots of unique shops.
