This exactly. It's even better than the Kid Icarus Uprising cards I obsess over.

Are we really arguing about a game that is still only in planning phases? This was just an internal demo video, not necessarily showing what will actually happen. It's possible, but we really can't say one way or the other yet.

Seriously, a sequel to Origins makes me incredibly happy. Origins was arguably the best game I played last year, and I want more games like it. Stop complaining about games that haven't even been announced yet.
My Want List!

Consoles: Sega Master System, NES Toploader, Genesis/32X, Sega CDX, SNES, 3DO FZ-1, Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, Sony PS2, Nintendo Gamecube, Xbox Halo Edition, Wii, PS3
Handhelds: Atari Lynx, Sega Nomad, Neo Geo Pocket Color, GBC (Atomic Purple, Pokemon Edition), GBA (Pink OG, Silver SP, Spongebob SP+), DS (Phat, iXL), 3DS, PSP (1000, Go)

I'm pretty sure Ubi just said that to save face when it got leaked. That looked like a completed E3 trailer to me. You don't get prototypes mocked up and hire child actors for "internal demo videos"

At first i actually liked the idea of skylanders with the figures BUT then i see this:

Are you saying that i have to buy ALL this if i want to play with all the characters? NO THANKS!
Well in rayman looks like this will be optional, unlike skylanders, just to expand the game a bit long.

I can only speak for myself, but as an "old school collector" I would simply prefer an entire game on a single disc without any of this other nonsense.

You don't have to buy it.

The more I think about this figure thing...the more it seems acceptable, strangely. It's not like they're a download in danger of disappearing after the generation is over.
Since this signature affects old posts, I'm leaving a message here in case anyone searches for my username. This account died in early 2013. I am no longer a fundamentalist.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

My kids play with theirs like star wars figures - and they're the same price as star wars figures...and they come with a collectible card...AND they open up new environments in a game. It's 3 toys for one munee - $8.

In any case, whether you like the idea or not - you have the choice to support it...or not. A lot folks like the idea. A lot.

Well..... yes. Of course. That is why I put "opposed to digital DLC" .
