What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Ahh, adulthood: realizing that everything sucks and, as if that weren't enough, that your TMNT shirts are a liability to your heredity.

So...had you been drinking? ie, did he have a reason to ask you to step out of the car to verify you weren't a danger to others on the road?
I didn't pick up on him being a douche from that story. Sounds like he was doing his job. Whether you had or hadn't been drinking, you extended a situation that apparently didn't require it. And in a city you admit is crime ridden - your stance caused him to pull another officer from doing other duties, to deal with you.
I don't know why anyone would be praising that.
Doesn't sound ballsy. Sounds childish and someone in need of attention.

FROWN: Decided to spend the weekend at my parents' house. Already regretting that decision.

Unless he was driving dangerously, (I'll give Luke the benefit of the doubt) reeked of alcohol (from the night before? I doubt it) or had an open container, what right does the cop have to remove him from his vehicle? I don't think stubbornly grunting at them is the best way to handle the situation, but I do think Luke was absolutely in the right.mjmjr25 wrote:snip

How do you figure? What's wrong with complying with an authoritative figure doing his/her job, namely a police officer.sabrage wrote:but I do think Luke was absolutely in the right.

Because it's not a police officer's job to detain and prevent citizens from getting on with their day for no reason! What a crock of shit.s1mplehumar wrote:How do you figure? Because rights you don't exercise are ones you lose. I have nothing in my car that could get me in trouble, but I will always deny searches etc. simply because I can.s1mplehumar wrote:How do you figure? Of course, you should always be friendly and polite to police officers, but that doesn't mean complying with everything they want to try and do to you.

^ @ sabrage
Who said anything about detaining? I'm sure if Luke really decided to push his luck he truly would be in the back of the squad car. As Mike already mentioned, what's wrong with complying with the officer in question if he/she in has suspicion that one is a danger to others on the road. It's kind of his/her job.
@ Ryan
Again, if the office suspected Luke was a danger to not only himself but others, what's wrong with adhering to the officer's requests?
I never suggested you should comply to every wish or demand law enforcement makes. In the situation with Luke the officer made a reasonable request.
