I figured out in my last post that I was thinking about getting a sega master system for a retro system but I don't want to go back in the cycle again of collecting and selling retro systems and games again. So I want to pick up some xbox 360 games for myself.
I don't know alot on the 360 but I do own a wii and a ps3 and the reason why I mentioned this is because of the online feature. I own the arcade version of the 360 and I don't want to spend 50.00 on a wireless network adapter and 60.00 for a year subscription for the 360.
So I am thinking about the konami collection and the capcom collection. Does anyone else know what I should get for the 360? I just bought raiden 4 online but I also was thinking of getting raiden fighter aces. Can anybody give me any other great retro type games for the 360? Thanks

I do not have a 360, but if I did, I would pick up the Dreamcast Collection.

Dont have a 360 either, but i think if your into retro like pre-64 bit era, probably best bet is the Wii VC, or if i had a 360 i would get Banjo-Kazooie off XBL, at least i think its on there.

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection needs to be on your list. Phantasy Star's, Shining Force games, Final Fight, many really, really good games.
There are a few decent retro games on XBLA as well. There are a few Saturn games such as Daytona, and some nice Genesis and N64 titles as well.

I don't want to spend the 100.00 or so for a wireless adapter and a year subscription for the 360. The sonic genesis collection sounds good and so does the dreamcast collection. It's too bad out of all the dreamcast games they chose those 4.ksloth wrote:Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection needs to be on your list. Sounds like you would be better off trading in your phat 360 for the new slim with the built in wifi.mas wrote:I don't want to spend the 100.00 or so for a wireless adapter and a year subscription for the 360. You don't need a subscription to anything in order to download demos or buy games. XBL does lock a few more features behind the pay wall compared to PSN - you need a Gold account to play games online or use Netflix for a couple examples - but it does have some basic functionality for free.mas wrote:I don't want to spend the 100.00 or so for a wireless adapter and a year subscription for the 360. If you did want to get XBL Gold, straight subscribing to it is for suckers. Buy membership cards instead, which are often in the $40-50 range online, sometimes less with sales/promos.
'course, trading your system in and getting a Slim with a HDD might benefit you anyway - need a HDD to play XBox titles (retro and all), and as mentioned, Slims have a wireless adapter built in.

Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. Although they're not retro games really, they're good JRPGs in the old school JRPG mold. I haven't played Blue Dragon, but I've played Lost Odyssey and it's excellent.

I don't understand, i'm afraid. You do not need Xbox Live Gold to download games, only Silver, which is free.
If you can just move your console over to a network jack you can download the games and then go back to unplugged at whatever other location you keep the console.
It might be easiest to use the official adapter if you do decide to go wireless.. though I'm sure someone has found a way to get some other adapter to work.
