I think there is pretty dynamic rank in this game, so I'd keep the Options to 2. Then you can focus on having a spare force field ready.

I was thinking about changing this to a Gradius 3 & 4 thread.

I figure, more people can play 3, and anyone who is playing 4 most likely has 3.

Yeah, the stage 4 lava cave sure is a bitch. It feels cheap at times but it's all just memorization.

Yeah, this game really teaches you what memorization is.

I start to think manic stuff is hard, but they are generally more flexible than than stuff like R-Type or Gradius.

The graphics on this one are actually quite nice. Looks more like Salamander than Gradius.
