Diablo & Starcraft

Post by RCBH928 »

Ok, since I ever got back into gaming I keep hearing about Starcraft and Diablo , even after 10+years of their release.

I want someone to explain to me whats the big deal about those 2 games? I did play a little bit of diablo and demo of starcraft, but I am not sure what makes these 2 games stand out like no other up to our day

Racketboy's 70,000 character limit wouldn't suffice in explaining StarCraft's amazingness. Much more about Diablo.

Starcraft has an unique spot in being not only one of the few good RTS games but also ones of the very, very few that are balanced for multiplayer. It didn't do anything special for it's time, it follows the Command and Conquer palette with a small technological tree to improve lesser units and three assimetrical sides instead of the two that was common until then.

It's just a very good game and patches kept the competitive community viable all the time. I don't know how well it compared to Tiberium Sun and Age of Empires II, tough.

I haven't played the original Diablo so I can't comment.

How many co-op action-RPGs were there before Diablo? Secret of Mana and...?

Diablo had a simple but addictive formula; smash your way through the hordes to get loot. Diablo II improves on it in every way possible, so I'd say to just play that.

Blizzard is usually well known for getting a lot of the details right and improving upon a known formula. Sc is a balanced resource gatherer and building queue rts game, and diablo is the addictive loot grabbing hack n slash dungeon crawler as people said.

StarCraft consumed all my time from launch 1998 till July of 2000 for Diablo 2, then Diablo 2 consumed all my time till about 2003-04, i would put Diablo 2 as my all time favorite game ever also there isnt enough time to describe how awesome it was killing players in pvp and mfing for items.

I totally lost interest in the multi-player aspect of StarCraft when StarCraft 2 came out and now im just waiting for the next campaign Heart Of The Swarm.

Diablo 3 is going to be epic, even though its fan-base has probably blown up x100 since Diablo 2 and is going to be super mainstream (hipsters beware) it will be worth playing even if you missed the first 2.

Not looking forward to the "elitist-terribad-troll" crowd from WoW that will infest Diablo 3, people were alot nicer on Battle.net back in 1998 up through 2003, not sure what started this whole "elitist-terribad-troll" movement, but if you are part of it, YOU SUCK!
