Steam coming to Linux!

Post by BananaXX »

I'm completely ecstatic about this, now I can use Linux for the majority of my computing needs. Granted a lot of Steam games I have will probably not be Linux compatible but still this is a major milestone for Linux gaming! Hopefully with the progression of time we'll see an increase in Linux adoption by game devs.

This is long time in the coming. I figured it would have been out by now, but you know Valve...

Now I can finally chat with people through steam on my linux computer.
Since this signature affects old posts, I'm leaving a message here in case anyone searches for my username. This account died in early 2013. I am no longer a fundamentalist.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

Very cool. If this causes some key games to start being ported to Linux I might be able to start using it again in the future.

For me Linux has always been the "ignore distractions like video games and get actual work done" platform. There goes that. Goddammit Valve.

In all seriousness this is pretty cool.

^ This is the exact reason I switched to Linux because when I had Windows I spent more time playing games than focusing on schoolwork.... Oh well.

Yes. Yes. YES.

I'm excited just to have the chat option, honestly, but hopefully a few games will be made for Linux, too! :D

Other than the obvious (Source games) what games do you hope / think will have a Linux version? Personally I'm hoping for at least Killing Floor and Torchlight 2.
