Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
I love chicks who are in to metal. Seemingly though, they are a rare species... When it comes to female singers in metal, it really depends. In Eluveite style, it works well, as well as some other bands I can't think of right now. I just hear too many who are attempting to make the hardcore, male styled lyrics and don't really pull it off, which hurts the music, in my opinion.

This girl totally elbowed meme in the stomach before she went on. The venue I was at was probably one-tenth the size of the one in that video... Shit was insane.

Ehh. She does better than most, but I can't fairly judge, this is a bit more screamy than I listen to. I meant more, trying to bring the Amon Amarth or the like out. I've heard a couple of cases where it comes out, but its not often. Kinda like men trying to sing high pitched like a woman. Freddie Mercury is one of the few...sabrage wrote:Forlorn Drifter wrote:I love chicks who are in to metal. Seemingly though, they are a rare species... I happen to know a cute, artistic and talented girl who loves most of the same metal bands I do. Too bad she lives many states away meForlorn Drifter wrote:I love chicks who are in to metal. She wanted to even be a lead singer for a band one day, but she's chosen a different path focusing on visual arts and making videos. Kind of my dream girl really, an artist and a metal head, and she's pretty open to geeky hobbies like gaming. Hell, she's done larping, which is geekier than anything I've ever done
I love mostly clean female vocalists and you mentioned Eluveitie. I think they have two girls who sing in that band. Add in the guy who does most of their songs and that's three vocalists in one band! Adds a nice bit of variety I think

I like some "beauty and the beast" style metal: harsh male vocals mixed with angelic female vocals. See (old) Theatre of Tragedy.

I've grown rather fond of that mix myself. It feels like this awesome mix of male and female energies, contrasting and complementing each other. It seems unique to metal. Other, more mainstream forms of music usually have duets where male and female singers try to match their voices to each other, both singing with clean vocals. I like the harsh contrast we get in metal with the "the beauty and the beast" thing. It's this sort of Ying and Yang thing that I really likeBoneSnapDeez wrote:I like some "beauty and the beast" style metal: harsh male vocals mixed with angelic female vocals. You guys need to listen to Holy Moses, Sacrilege and Znowhite if you want to hear Female vocals on old school thrash.
Sacrilege - Within the Prophecy
Sacrilege - Turn Back Trilobite
Holy Moses - Finished with Dogs
Holy Moses - The New Machine of Liechtenstein
Holy Moses - World Chaos
Znowhite - Act of God
