I think it's fine unless you're a diehard for the story. I played RD without every realizing that it's the sequel, and I thought it was amazing. (Though I don't know why people say it's hard, even on easy, and when I was 11 years old it wasn't that hard. But on hard mode....no. It's brutal then.)
But after playing Path of Radiance, I think I'd overall suggest trying to get it first.
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn without playing Path of Radiance?

The usual error is both exclusive to Americas edition Radiant Dawn discs and requires a memory card containing "easy mode" Path of Radiance data to encounter.ElkinFencer10 wrote:Yeah, something on my Radiant Dawn disc is messed up and won't let me import Path of Radiance data, so I can't attest to how much that boost is, but I know that it helps.
If your scenario is different than I don't know.
