Memory sparks nostalgia

Post by TrevorF »

A lot of times I find myself playing through a game because of something that sparks a memory. But the origin of that spark is a little weird in its own.

Has anyone else found themselves playing a game because of a sound or smell? For me it's either a sound that's part of a song in a game I once played and/or something I ate at the time or a place I played.

I don't know maybe I'm weird, maybe I'm just tuned in a bit more, but I'm sure olfactory and auditory senses are a big part of that nostalgia spark that we all get.

Thoughts?
Thing's that I'm looking for at the moment: Super Mario RPG manual(SNES), Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals map and cart(SNES), The King of Dragons Box and manual(SNES), Lufia and the fortress of doom CIB(SNES), Earthbound CIB(SNES), EVO: The Search for Eden CIB(SNES), Harvest Moon CIB(SNES), Mario Paint CIB(SNES), Bomberman Party Pak With Super Multitap(SNES), DoReMi Fantasies CIB(SFC).

The smell of wallpaper remover always makes me want to play Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast. The reasons for that is that my family was removing the wallpaper in the hallway my room is on back when I first got the game.

Well, I like to watch my old WoW and Warhammer Online screenshots quite a lot and listen to video game music. Some non video game music reminds me of good times I had playing games and some particular song might remind me of certain zone in a game. And the other way around, when I walk through a certain area, I start hearing some song in my head because there is some memory attached to the combination of that song and that place. A lot of good memories from blasting techno while having fun with online friends in WoW or doing great in an online FPS game.

Also some some songs remind me WoW PvP, PvE and Machinima videos because that's how I originally heard the songs.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

I did that a lot with WoW to. :D
Exactly like that. I can't believe I missed that. Consider this thread closed. :)
