Anyway, disclaimer aside, I recently moved into a new apartment in the center of Atlanta, Georgia. I have organized the majority of my video game collection and am now beginning the arduous task of cataloging all of it to determine how much I lost or left behind in the wake of my abrupt departure from Alabama. I also photographed the majority and want to show you guys just what I own, in the hopes it will facilitate further discussion about genres on certain consoles and perhaps possibly lead me to finding new games I was unaware of.
Let's start with something simple: my 3DO collection. It is tiny: 2 games. In truth I bought the console for a single game, and I don't even own it yet.
Starblade is still sealed. I use Syndicate to verify my 3DO still works.
This is the first half of my Dreamcast collection. Many of my jewel-cased games need replacement covers, as they have been cracked or damaged over the years. You will notice a large proportion of survival horror games in my collection, as that was actually the reason why I picked up a Dreamcast for myself. The one import I own happens to be another survival horror game.
And behold, more survival horror, as well as the Record of Lodoss War action RPG, amongst other games. RoLW really deserves more discussion. It is an amazing game that I can proudly say I've beaten the tar out of.
Here is my small standard cart NES collection. I actually also own a copy of Silver Surfer, but it has stopped working in recent years. I'm currently holding a copy of LOLO 2 for Fast, so it is not pictured. Anyway, the glare from my camera makes Startropics a little tough to see, but...it's Startropics! That series is wonderful, and if you have not experienced them, you should. They're a treat.
Blurry as hell, but this is my non-standard NES cart collection: Alien Syndrome and MIG 29.
Here are my domestic Sega Saturn titles. My camera had some issue along the bottom there, so Shinobi Legions and Street Fighter Alpha 2 are a little tough to see, but totally worth playing. This is actually not a complete collection of my Sega Saturn games, but I decided against pulling out the stack of disc-only titles I own, because I don't want marring from the floors. If you cannot tell, I purchased a Saturn for fighting games.
Behold, a blurry picture of my Saturn imports. These are ALL fighting games, including the version of Virtua Fighter Remix that was washed out by the flash at the bottom. Of all my Saturn fighters, Cyberbots is probably the one I am most thrilled with, as I was not expecting it to be nearly as good as it turned out to be. What a wonderful game.
Here is my current collection of Nintendo 64 games. The one you cannot see due to the flash is Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Also, I did not realize this at the time, but my brother had tested my N64 with Goemon's Great Adventure, so it is not in the picture but is in my collection. My N64 collection shrank a bit last year, as I had to sell some games to make ends meet. I am debating the possibility of one day pursuing all the N64 has to offer, as it is a considerably smaller number of games when compared to the SNES, my collecting workhorse.
And here is my Xbox 360 collection. I don't even own one of these things anymore, yet I still have a small collection, again mainly composed of horror-themed games.
That's right, ONE PSP game...and not really a game, either. I ended up getting this when I bought Silent Hill 0rigins on the PS2. It was worth keeping, even if I don't own a PSP and have little desire to purchase one.
Just like my Xbox 360 collection, I have a small PS3 collection, despite not owning a PS3 anymore. I plan to get one again some day, as I have found them to be more reliable than the 360.
Here is the first part of my PlayStation collection. The faded out game is Jade Cocoon. I own a solid handful of RPGs on this console, as well as a few survival horror games and a smattering of other genres.
Here are the rest of my PlayStation games. SaGa Frontier 2 is heavily faded due to the flash, as is the title for Wild Arms. That upside down black disc is actually Xenogears, but the front artwork for the case went missing years ago. That long scratch is on the case, not the game. I need to go through and replace the covers of these, much like my Dreamcast games.
Ah yes, my PlayStation 2 collection. Here is A through D. You will notice Gamestop has ravaged them accordingly with stickers, as have a few other companies. That blurred out title is DOA2: Hardcore.
PS2 E through G. By this point, I had been shying away from RPGs after the greatness of the PS1 generation. The time to devote to a solid RPG just was not there anymore, and my tastes had evolved towards further survival horror or more "mature" titles like the GTA series. The two faded ones are San Andreas and Vice City. Also, horror fans, you need to check out Ghosthunter.
PS2 H through M. That black case in the top left is Indigo Prophecy, and the faded case from the flash is Metal Gear Solid 2.
PS2 N through R. Sorry about how blurry this picture came out. It is almost impossible to see Red Faction and The Red Star, amongst other games, both good (The Punisher) and bad (Nanobreaker). Also, Raiden III makes me cry like a red headed stepchild every time it hands me my butt.
PS2 S through T. Those two blurred out at Steambot Chronicles and Street Fighter Alpha Anthology. I really need to get around to picking up the PS2 version of the Silent Hill remake, so I can have the complete PS2 line of Silent Hill games. And yes, I know it is not as good as the second, but I am keeping Soul Calibur 3...if only to remind me how much I like Soul Calibur 2.
PS2 V through Z. I don't actually own any PS2 games starting with U. And I love the Way of the Samurai series.
Now, to avoid doing what I did with my PS2 collection, I decided not to photograph my SNES collection. You may think that is sad, but you get over a hundred of those carts and tell me how much you want to organize and then photograph them. So instead, to give you a rough idea of what they all look like, here is a picture of my current entertainment center.
The Saturn is not yet hooked up, and my 3DO is not pictured. Those solid shelves of SNES games down in the bottom corners? Each shelf holds between 60 and 70 SNES carts. I own a total of 177 and have room to expand!
Also, I will eventually get around to photographing my PC games. There aren't that many, but I feel lazy.
