The design of the thing looks very awkward, but I really can't think of a reasonable alternative design that would accommodate your goals, so in that sense I suppose what you've created does in fact meet those base needs. It's a very cool idea, in truth.
I want to know why people try to make such monolithic designs, though. Why not create a screen/controller unit that's lightweight and connected by a heavy cable to a backpack or belt-attached system unit? You'd only need video and control input to go down the cable, and you can buy some pretty solid cable material for a durable tether. Then the console units themselves can be shaped however necessary to accommodate console innards, even a CD unit for a PSX attachment (think walkman).

Ghostbusters!
SCART output built into system; also a SCART converter> composite output/input and audio output/input can be used (for convenience). The Scart can do RGB, composite, audio.ott0bot wrote:Cool idea. Do you have an rca/s-vid out to play on a tv? That would be great. You'll have to make a sweet carry case for the system and different console plates. Do you have any other system working yet? I'm guessing most cart sysems could work, but what about cd's? that would get tricky.
Carry case made - on my website.
Working on SNES at the moment (will have mornings of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on project work. Again, look on my website for details.
Yes, all cart systems will work; CD's (PSone) and mini disks (GameCube) will work on my system too, will just need a little more work on the mid section, but will do.
nateup2 - you say my system is awkward (isn't actually, plays great); yet some up with the suggestion you did in your post!!

Actually, I was making fun of the Ghostbusters suggestion involving a backpack.bacteria wrote:SCART output built into system; also a SCART converter> composite output/input and audio output/input can be used (for convenience). I really like it, except for the color. Good job getting the N64 to work, I know they're really fragile so it's always cool to see a person get the thing in there intact.

Colour is a funny beast, it is hard to get it right. I didn't want white as it looks clinical, black is distracting, dark looks strange, had to use a cream shade. Adding varnish to the case to preserve the paint made it a bit darker/more yellow; even though the varnish was clear. Still like it though, looks like a lemon cream colour, or weak custard colourThe Apprentice wrote:I really like it, except for the color.
