Advice on what system would be good for a child with cp

Ok peoples i need some ideas on what type of system would be good for a child with cerebral palsey. A friend of mine runs a church thrift store and a lady came in today and asked if they had any game systems. She explained that her 10 old grandson has cp and can't do alot of the things little boys do.So she thought this may cheer him up. So my buddy said it would have to be something simple without to many buttons since the little guy has limited use in his hands. I was thinking nes or snes. If any one has any ideas on games or systems please tell me. i know there was a special controller for n64 for handicaped people but i have no clue where to find one. This kid has had a rough life he lives with his grandma cause his mom couldn't deal with the cp. So i want to gift him something that will make him feel good again.

Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance? Maybe a handheld is better than a console if he's in a wheelchair or something? Game Gear and Neo Geo Pocket also have 2 buttons but they are less comfortable to hold, NGPC lacks a screen light which might be a problem since you need to be able to hold you head in a certain angle if the lighting is bad and since they bot sold a lot less than Nintendo, finding games is a lot harder, especially for NGPC.
Dingoo A320 is a nice 4 button handheld for emulated games but if the grandma does not understand computers and the kid cant deal with computers either, it might be a bad choiche compared to cartridge based handhelds.

Its all about the input. There may be cheap games available but if he cant play them correctly then whats the point?

This kid may need modded parts.

controllers need to be specialzed for him.

Maybe you can find a joystick. He can just tap the buttons. Games that arent too complicated can work fine with the joystick.

Some thing may have to be modded if he cant get his hands close together. Maybe the joystick can be split in two. with the Stick (D-pad) can be on one hand and the face buttons can be on the other hand. Cord Extensions would be needed.

Something has to be done so he wont be constantly be blowing on carts or removing them all the time. If only there was one of those multi carts like they did for the gameboy advance. Where three carts were in one system.

maybe the repro cart with the memory card with all the games.

but now that I think about it, he can get those made in china Plug and play nes knockoff consoles. It has all the games built in and he can reset it. He can play the classics and they are around 20 bucks.

he still needs the joystick tho. maybe the NES Advantage can be modded to work with the NES knockoff system?

I think i have the atari version of that plug and play. I am not sure level of mobility he has as of yet. I don't think i have ever been around someone with cp before.
I have a friend that teaches people with disabilitys so i want to get together with her and the grandmother and see what we can come up with this week.

A controller with a good grip and slower paced games, like RPGS, sounds suitable?
Maybe puzzle games... I know if I wasn't able to use my body to the full extent, I'd like to use my head to the full extent.

DSi XL? It has plenty of simple games, easier to grip since it is larger and the stylus is bigger too.

If they have a crt tv, then older consoles. If they have a modern flat screen I highly recommend a ps3 with move, games: razing Storm, House of the dead III & 4.
