Do you think Sonic Generations is the best 3d Sonic?

by todays standards i think it absolutely is! the adventure games were great at the time though! i thought sonic heroes was just ok and not nearly as memorable

i'd also be really curious to know if anyone thinks its the best 2d sonic as well?

I do. It's an insanely fast paced platformer with the best soundtrack in the series; what more could you ask for?

I think it being the most true to the Genesis originals while also being 3D gives it that top honor almost implicitly.

But, I do think people have been overtly harsh on some of the 3D Sonic games that weren't that bad. While the spin off series' are pretty much garbage, and the 2006 game was atrocious, as well as Black Knight ... I do think, in terms of gameplay, that Unleashed and Secret Rings had redeeming qualities, and colors is pretty good also.

I think the daytime levels in Unleashed are actually pretty awesome. I'm really glad that the Generation's modern levels took a queue from what they did there.

Yes, though I thought review sites were a bit harsh on the game yet to lenient on games like Call of Duty.

I have no played much 3D Sonic games. Actually I think Sonic Adventure 2 was the only one prior to Sonic Generations. But I completely loved Generations, and do kind of want to play more of the 3D games to kind of see for myself how good/bad they really are.

Sonic 06 is pretty notorious. Story is like a hyper kid tried to cram sonic characters into a bad jrpg plot. It involves time travel and human+hedgehog smooching.

Sonic Colors deserves mention. Not sure if it's the "best", but I think it's clearly in the running.
