I have created a portable console system which is a console system of two halves, one half contains a PSone screen, joysticks and button controls, the other half is the console system which inserts into the screen section like a large cartridge, in a way so that both parts interact with each other.
This system is currently complete with a modded N64, I will be making other systems like SNES, Megadrive, SMS, Jaguar, Gamecube, Playstation 1 also integrate into the same base unit over the next months.
This is a unique system as it makes console systems integrate into a base unit like large cartridges...
Please have a look at my website to see a video of the system and how it works, and to see step-by-step guides to making such a system.

Grip is fine to play games, natural height of gap between thumb and forefinger (as described in the website); good handholds and fingers don't get in the way of the middle section. It also rests on my lap very well for gameplay sessions.
System was made to be comfortable to use - BTW not all commercial controllers are comfortable to use, eg the official N64 controller, anyone?
There is no other feasible way to make one system interact with another without using a design as I did, the interface board (male and female) slots keep everything firmly together so it can't disconnect accidentally.

The joysticks inside PC controllers and console controllers are the same - pots. Used in PS1, PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and virtually everything else. You can't replace the crappy stick in the N64 controller if you are using an official Nintendo N64 controller as they use a similar process for their joystick as a mouse uses; however if you use a third party N64 controller, they are much better, use pots; and you can also use your PS2 joystick in your unofficial N64 controller - see my website under "Modding Components" > Joysticks. You only then need to secure the replacement joystick in place on your controller.HoboJoe wrote:Hey since you seem to know a bit about controllers...would there be anyway to replace the crappy stick in the n64 controller with like a ps2 analog stick? Just wondering...if not...I'm might try a gamecube one.
