playing Skies Of Arcadia (DC) for the 3rd time!

Post by jalvarez82 »

I love this game. I beat it twice already. But this time... I'm going for a perfect game! I'm talking about taking credit for finding all of the discoveries, finding all of the chams for Cupil, recruiting every crew member possible, making sure I get Vyse 'The Legend' status by the end...basically leaving no stone unturned. It's been about 4 years since I last played it, so I'm really excited about "sailing the skies" again.

I just wanted to share my excitement with you guys. :D

You must really like this game. I can't imagine playing any game like this more than once, I just have so much in my backlog I need to get to.

It's certainly in my list of all time faves. I would suggest getting the Gamecube version if you're going for a third playthrough. It has more content, thus allowing you a more "perfect" playthrough

Such a good game! I've only beaten the original version, I'll have to try the GC port for my next playthrough.

I almost had a perfect ranking last time I played it on DC. I didn't realize until the end of the game that running from battles hurts your ranking! I was not happy. :?

This is one I've always wanted to try but haven't yet. I love me some Sega RPGs, gonna have to give this one a run sooner or later.

Is the GC version significantly better than the DC version for someone that hasn't played it at all?

lol I might have to move this one up in my backlog

I bought the GC version randomly one day but haven't played it yet when i picked it up and it sparked a memory of playing the demo on my cousins Dreamcast back in 2000. I remember playing the demo over and over because he said the ship in the demo couldn't be beaten and he was right :P

The GC port has some additional sidequests and the random encounter rate has been cut down. However, the music is downgraded when compared to the DC original.

One quirky thing I loved about the DC version is how loud the GD-ROM drive got just before a random battle. This doesn't happen during the GC version obviously.

Yes. I truly love this game to death. Its very hard for me to get sick of playing lol. I just stopped playing, and I've already beaten the green Giga and made over 20 discoveries, which Iam trying to stay on top of and report right away.

I know all about the GC and all its enhancements and extra content. And I will try it out one day...but Ive always been a purist. And I believe every game is best enjoyed on its original platform.

Loved it back in the day on the DC but the random encounters make it a right pain to go back to.
