Can you swim? (And what country are you from?)

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The place where I live is hot as shit, so most people know how to swim.

Also I've never lived more than 5 blocks away from the beach (although people keep telling me to put on a tan, I'm too white...), so I can swim as well.

DNA Discoverer: Blacks Less Intelligent Than Whites
[/quote]
James Dewey Watson (born April 6, 1928) is an American molecular biologist, geneticist, and zoologist, best known as a co-discoverer of the structure of DNA in 1953 with Francis Crick. Watson, Crick, and Maurice Wilkins were awarded the 1962 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "for their discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids and its significance for information transfer in living material".[2]
I cant say that this is a subject I am very familiar with, but I am sure that guy, as controversial as he may sound, is more qualified to talk about this subject than 99.8% of the world population.

I am not defending what he said or this particular case, but generally I dont think that political correctness can overrule scientific research made by independant scientists. If a controversial claim is made that is based on statistics and actual science, then it should be debunked with science, rather than with name calling and labeling the people who conducted the research.

That article is missing essentially every key piece of information needed to actually respond to any of the claims. As far as I could see we have an old scientist saying he can't find smart black people. I didn't see references to genetic factors he had found, or anything with any scientific or statistical basis that he was referring to.

I doubt it was based on any particular research anyways. Often times with these cases though its just couple of sentences from a large 100+ page research that have been taken out of context.

Grew up on the west coast of Canada. Swam like a fish for most of my childhood.

Moved to Ontario for three years. Forgot how to float. I know how to tread water- but I can't anymore. I just sink.

Fuck Ontario.

I'm Swedish and I can swim. In Sweden it's very uncommon to not be able to swim. The same holds true for all of Scandinavia.

Which is more evidence that climate is not a factor in this at all. But what about social standing? Has anyone supported this theory so far?

If African Americans from poor communities are poor swimmers, that could explain it, as in Scandinavia public schools are pretty much the same for every one and people from all social classes attend the same school.

That's basically what Canada is, or is supposed to be. Socialism and all that. For the most part it is, aside from a few private schools that cater to some groups.

I don't think that's socialism exactly, but let's better not get into this topic in a forum with so many Americans.

I just don't understand how anyone can have a hard time learning at least to puddle. Your body floats by itself.
