Re: The Wrestling Thread
As much as I enjoy seeing Cena get jobbed out, Lord Tensai is lame. Most of the guys who rarely make it to the top are the ones with lame gimmicks like this. Notice most of the top guys in the WWE don't need gimmicks, with the exceptions of Kane and Undertaker, who are just so damn good at their gimmicks. For all the other top guys though, their characters are an extension of their own personalities. Matt Bloom needs to find his (just like Morrison needed to). Speaking of lame gimmicks....
I still hate Brodus Clay. His dancing girls have more moves than he does. Maybe they should have just had one of them do his gimmick and have her join the divas division. Anyone notice that the very beginning of Clay's theme music echoes Too Cool and Rikishi's music, the guys who were waaay better at this gimmick than Clay is (Rikishi could certainly out dance Clay). Okay, maybe I don't hate Clay, but this gimmick is going nowhere. I will give Clay props for one thing though. That headbutt on Ziggler last week at the top of the ramp looked pretty badass.
I liked Cena on this episode Raw. I very much like it when we have vulnerable, not so sure of himself Cena. It's arrogant, cocky Cena that gets on my nerves. Right now Cena's feud with Lesner feels a bit like the one he had with Batista. Back when Batista claimed that Cena couldn't beat him and Cena acknowledged that Batista might be right. Faces are so much more interesting when they are at a disadvantage and I like that the announcers are doing such a good job of pointing out that Cena's loss to the Rock may have hurt his career and his confidence.
See, I don't hate Cena when he is used properly. I think he should lose at Extreme Rules and also get injured by Brock. Of course, I mean a fake injury. Brock needs to keep momentum on his side and an injured, defeated Cena is more interesting than the usual, carefree, one we usually get. Same goes for Punk, this Jericho feud has made him a bit more interesting now that Jericho has taken his cocky, smartass attitude away from him. Although Jericho's promo this week was a bit redundant. Still, I like this feud for the intense, angry version of CM Punk we are seeing. Wisecracking Punk is great, but like anything else, was getting a bit stale.
Heels should always dominate, with faces getting the occasional victory when necessary to keep the audience from losing interest. That's how I would book things if I were in the WWE. I think Brock injuring Cena would also fit with the idea That Brock is a badass, former UFC fighter. I'd like to see that. Make Cena's eventual victory over Brock seem hard fought and earned, assuming we ever actually see Cena beat Brock.
Guys I feel sorry for after this past Raw:
Kofi - Tapped out like a bitch
Ryder - who continues to be buried on TV
Guys I feel happy for after this Raw:
Daniel freaking Bryan - Man that guy is getting over
YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
I finally watched Ring of Honor. I have it set to my DVR now that I know what time and channel is comes on every week. I saw some pretty badass in ring action, way better than what I usually see in the WWE. And can I just say, Maria Kanellis is one of the most gorgeous females I've ever seen walking on God's green earth. Seriously, that girl is in perfect 10 territory. I want my future wife to look like her

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I haven't watched last night's Raw yet, but I wanted to just add my thoughts on the Brodus Clay and Lord Tensai situation. For me, every time they come out it's clear they are going to win. I mean, Lord Tensai has gone up against Alex Riley and then Yoshi Tatsu. If this guy dominated the competition in Japan (which Lawler admitted is one of the toughest in the world) then why put him up against these guys who haven't won squat. It's obvious to ANYBODY that they will win. I know I know, it's meant to make them look dominant or dangerous but it's not only boring and predictable, you are effectively burying these guys.Gamerforlife wrote:As much as I enjoy seeing Cena get jobbed out, Lord Tensai is lame. Brodus Clay was the same. Now I actually enjoy this gimmick. Saying Clay has no moves is the POINT. This man mountain with CAW tribals shouldn't be dancing, and he looks awkward as fuck when he does, which coupled with the pitch perfect theme music, is hilarious. The Wrestlemania entrance with the Bridge Club was one of the most entertaining parts of the event. If Brodus Clay plays up a bit more to the old skool soulman vibe he is going with like he first did, by saying hilarious stuff like "My bad" after doing a huge suplex, then he will be even more over than he already is.
Personally, I think Brodus Clay should face Lord Tensai. The WWE is crying out for dominant heels and Tensai could be the solution. The only downfall is the whole crowd chanting "Allllllllbert" and the fact he still uses the "Baldo Bomb". As long as he doesn't do a Sin Cara, new gimmicks are always welcome. Beats having bland characters like Swagger and David fucking Otunga.

I stood next to her waiting for the in-airport shuttle to the gate in Miami after Wrestlemania. She was rocking the green Cena t-shirtGamerforlife wrote:I finally watched Ring of Honor. See, I don't get or think the Albert thing matters. The WWE has gone out of its way to recognize he was a former WWE Superstar. The chant is never loud and kind of lame. Its not like they are hiding it.Razzmatazz wrote:Personally, I think Brodus Clay should face Lord Tensai. The WWE is crying out for dominant heels and Tensai could be the solution. Best part of RAW in my opinion

They definitely don't let Ziggler's matches last long enough.
