Losing Shadow..Ouch

The dark world is as far as I made it up to in FFIII/VI back in 94'-95'..And I lost Shadow.(I love Ninjas)

I have started over since then but forget what Im up to,not near this part though.
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

It's actually preferable form a gameplay standpoint. Doing the quest that would get him instead gives Relm his dog, making her even more overpowered. The dog was pretty much the big draw about him, his throwing ability was nothing compared to Edge's.

Shadow is the coolest character though. And he has the second-to-best theme music (after Terra of course).

Additionally I wouldn't usually put Relm in the front row, thus not giving her much of an opportunity to make use of Interceptor. Besides that, Shadow was so well-rounded statistically that he could fit into just about any situation. He's perhaps the only fighter that can actually contribute in the Fanatics Tower besides just serving as a meat shield.

Was there a difference in enemy targeting between front/back row? I thought it just affected the damage algorithm, not the targeting algorithm.

That's all there is, and that's where the people should be. Cyan and Gau would be in the engine room, Setzer would be in the small room, and everyone else would be in the main room. If you aren't seeing anyone around something is wrong.

Maybe that's right? I just kind of assumed it affected targeting based on FF tradition.

Well, as I recall, in FF2 you had hard restriction on who could be targeted based upon weapon type and row but magic targeting was unaffected, so if Maria was in the back she could only physically attack with bows, and enemies could only physically attack her with bows. FF3 was when they changed it to be the update to the damage algorithm and as far as I know the targeting algorithm is still the standard "random party member" algorithm that's used for 95% of the non-counterattack cases. In fact, I can't even think of an instance in Final Fantasy where an enemy chooses targets based on an algorithm other than roll the dice outside of counterattack scenarios.
