I was just checking information about the series and to my surprise I found out that each game is made by different developers. It's kinda funny because I always thought each game looked different from one another, so I guess I was right the whole time. It's like if you play a certain game, you know who developed the game.
Which of the games is the best in the series?
Dead to Rights developed by Namco
Dead to Rights 2 developed by Widescreen Games
Dead to Rights 3 developed by Volatile Games
I was wondering what drove namco to outsource the franchise, especially when more Japanese companies are doing that today like Capcom for example.
Anybody familiar with Dead to Rights series?

I'm not sure. Reckoning was pretty good on the PSP. Not in an original way. It's a pretty stereotypical 3rd person action shooting game, but it was done well and was good to pull out for a mission or two on the bus.
Older. Not wiser.

DoR 1 and 2 are both quite bad.
2 is especially terrible.
Go play Max Payne instead.

I enjoyed the recent entry in the series Dead to Rights: Retribution on PS3/Xbox 360 but I skipped over most of the earlier games.

I played this game in middle school. I liked the dog. I'd imagine you're better off playing Fallout or Fable or Twilight Princess or Okami if that's your thing.
Re: Anybody familiar with Dead to Rights series?
I'd start with Dead 2 Rights. It gives you a feel for what the series will be like, and establishes the characters. It has its flaws, but I find it to be an enjoyable play. I guess you can say it exceeds in its mediocrity.
