It's a week until I leave for summer vacation, and it's a white-out blizzard at my college.

To be fair, the controls do suck.
I actually loved the controls in Unreal Tournament DC; they're certainly far and away better than Quake III Arena DC's controls (unless you're left-handed, I can't see how they would be preferable).
Also, I am among the few who just adore the Dreamcast's controller; it's comfortable, the analog stick is accessible and smooth, the VMU is a stroke of genius, and the whole thing just oozes personality. The only controller (in my opinion) that it is bested by for 3D games is the Gamecube's heavenly pad.

The DC pad is great, excepting two flaws: no second analog stick, and the D-pad can become really crummy when it gets some wear. I really like the VMUs, expansion slots, the shape, and the triggers, but the lack of a second stick limited the 3D potential.

Agreed. The memory card was a cool idea though, and I guess that does go in the controller.
That D-pad is total shite though, and the analog is nothing great either. Even the cable comes out of the wrong end.
The worst part is, they had the controller right at first. The Saturn 3D pad is amazing. The grips are a bit less... sharp(?), the face has 6 large buttons instead of 4 tiny ones. The d-pad is basically the Saturn model 2 d-pad, and the analog thing is concave, smooth, and has enough grip (although not great for precision movements, it's extremely comfy). Hell, the cord even comes out the right end!
Frown: Some weekend plans have already been dashed. It's only Monday!!
Smile: Watched a video of Jeff Neely running away from reporters after he plead the fifth in front of congress today. Literally, running with his lawyers right behind him. If he does not get prosecuted it is going to be a travesty.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
There is good and there is bad about the DC controllers. I love the analog triggers which come in handy in certain games, but any 6 button-fighting game gets a bit difficult with it.
Don't get me started on my first experience with Xbox pads. "You can PRESS the analog sticks in?" (yes, that was me)

Which is why, on the 3rd day, the lord invented the Sega Saturn model 2 controller.

The Lord was on a roll on the 3rd day.
Well the second day was all about Genesis add-ons. He knew he had to get something right, fast.
