I'm curious about Ys Seven as well. Should have my copy by the end of the week, I can't wait!

Unfortunately, no. I'm rarely able to afford those. :?

I did manage to get a cheap copy of the LE of Oath in Felghana some time back though.

I loved Ys Seven! Granted, my only previous experience with the series was Ys 6, so I'm not a seasoned Ys vet just yet.

They had a great weapon mechanic where each weapon had one of three attack types, and different monsters were weak or strong to each type. So there was some thought to building your party, because you wanted to make sure you covered all the attack types. Lots of skills to learn and quests to do, too. I got a good 30 hours out of it.

Just beat Abobo's Big Adventure. I played when I first heard about it a while back. But this was the first I'd played it since. Such an awesome game with such a great sense of humor and an obvious love for NES games. I HIGHLY recommend this one to all RacketBoy members.

January
1- From Dust - PSN
2- Resident Evil Director's Cut - PS1
3- Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace - PS1

February

4- Deadly Premonition - Xbox 360
5- RefRain ~prism memories~ - PC

March

6- The Bouncer - PS2
7- Last Window: The Secret of Cape West - DS
8- Dead Space - PS3
April

9- Puyo Pop - N-Gage

A pretty easy Puyo game and certainly not the best version available. It suffers from some lag but it's still playable enough to scratch that puzzle-game itch. If you have an N-Gage (which I know that everyone has one, right?) this is a decent game to pick up.

4/6 Final Fantasy IV (PSP)

I somehow missed this the first time on the SNES, when it was released as Final Fantasy II and my past self hangs his head in shame. That's ok though, as I still throughly enjoyed it in the present! I kind of feel like this doesn't really need a review, especially on a retro forum. The PSP version, which I played on the Vita, looked great. The colors were really vibrant and nothing got in the way of me enjoying the game control-wise. Top-notch, RPG, fun.

I was surprised by how much I liked this game, as I really thought that the game would be marred by Suda's worst instincts for potty humor and his often hit and miss gameplay design. I picked it up for $10 a month or so ago on the off chance that it might be worth a look, and sure enough I was floored by how good the game actually is. More than that, the story and characters are really well put together, the humor feels organic and fresh, and the varied gameplay sections are enjoyable, well-timed deviations from the already excellent main gameplay. The character art and environment design are very well done, the music is appropriately moody, and the game poses a serious challenge in some of the later levels (several bosses had me wanting to throw my controller). All in all it succeeds in taking the best parts from a lot of the games its creators earned their pedigree making to create something new and - most importantly - a hell of a lot of fun. (It was surprisingly long, too - 12 hours of "game time" which doesn't include probably 3-4 hours of stuff I had to do over after dying [mostly boss fights]).

Oh, and for those who have played it - wouldn't you love to see a PSN/XBLA game that was an extended version of the 2D shmup-esque stages? Those were awesome :)

Check out Black Knight Sword, it's exactly that (well, a little less shmuppy)
