Funny enough I got a Wii again a few weeks back with Skyward Sword, so I'm near the end of that when I started up Xenoblade. Worth noting Skyward Sword feels like one of the longest Zelda games, I have 40 hours or something still with some stuff to do. So both choices will be a big time sink, lol. Xenoblade sounds much longer though which is crazy.
I'm pretty sure that SS is the longest Zelda. It helps that every overworld section can qualify as a dungeon (or nearly every one), so you end up doing somewhere in the realm of 18 dungeons. It also has taken the title of favorite final boss fight from a mechanics perspective.
Yeah, it's hard to measure up to the others since they don't have an in-game clock from what I remember. All of the 3D games have been pretty huge, but SS definitely seems to be the longest.
The lack of a true overworld might be one of my complaints though. Definitely gets a little repetitive and more than three main area's would've been nice (a snowy place!). That said, I'd take the flying over the sailing from WW, the flying here feels similar but it's way quicker and simpler. Still one of the best games I've played this gen hands down though and now you have me stoked for the final boss fight. But yeah, I guess OoT is still the top dog for me (3D wise), I'd probably put SS on the same page as MM and TP. All three were incredible, but did have a few things here and there I wished were different.
