PSP 6.35 Homebrew enabler? please help if possible.

Post by Satoshi_Matrix »

Hey guys, I have a PSP 3000 that I use all the time that's running OFW 6.20. I have a TN homebrew enabler for it that allows me to access the PSP's wealth of emulation options. I recently picked up Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles on UMD and notice it requires me to upgrade to OFW 6.35.

I'd like to do that, but I don't want to give up being able to run emulators and PSP UMDs I ripped to iso using the iso tool.

Is there a safe, stable homebrew enabler for 6.35, or is there a way I can get the Ys UMD to run in 6.20 TN? I very rarely deal with firmware updates. Any help is much appreciated.

There's actually a Pro Custom Firmware released for Official Firmware 6.60. That's what I use.

Here's a guide.

Impressive. CFW has come a long way since I last dabbled in it. I used the CFW to run my games off the memory stick for improved load times and battery life but stopped when it reached the point where you needed to specially hack the ISOs to skip whatever firmware check they had; I could never get the hacking apps to work right and gave up and installed OFW. Then it went through a long period of just having homebrew enablers without a CFW for running ISOs so I stopped paying attention. I might have to snag this.

PSP hacking has made some serious advances over the years. I can't recall how many Magic Memory Sticks I made...

Time flies!

Thanks Opa Opa I didn't realize there was an explot for the newest OFW!

Before I update a few things:

From completely off, does it boot into the official firmware? If it does, then could I access PSN via my PSP? The reason I ask is because I've bought several PS1 games on my PS3 and would like to transfer them to my PSP. I've just been afraid of doing that in case Sony updates some security or something that would prevent me from running my beloved emulators.

is there anything I can run in 6.20 TN that I would not be able to run in 6.60? For example, I have a really cool plugin that lets me control the screen brightness percentage rating exactly by holding down the shoulder buttons and then up and down on the dpad. Does 6.60 allow all of the bonus benefits of 6.20 TN "soft" homebrew enabler?

Yes.

Yes. However, I don't recommend signing-in on your PSP. Sign-in to PSN on your PS3, download your content there, hook up your PSP via a USB cable, then select "copy" on the PS3.

That's what I do to avoid any possible (if any?) Sony security stuff. Now I may be wrong. It may not matter if you sign-in with CFW turned off. This is something I'd need verified by other members. The step above^ is just what I do to play my purchased PS1 games on my PSP and it works fine for me.

I really don't know. I'd say that you would have to just try out and see what programs/plug-ins work or not.

I really don't know what you're asking. I never used TN HEN...
Maybe someone else knows the answer.

opa, I just hard reset to turn the CFW off and go straight on PSN with no proble. But if you forget to turn it off and try to sign off you can F yourself over (remember when I did that and then I couldn't access PSN for a week?)

Maybe I'm being overly cautious... Then again, why change my ways?! lol

One more question. Is there any possible downgrades from 6.60? I know there was a downgrade from 6.35 to 6.20.
