Soyo is actually a pretty good company. They come from making motherboards and computer components and recently started making TVs and Monitors.(well recently when it comes to Televisions, as companies like Sony and RCA been at it for several decades).
I've used their products for quite some time, and one of my motherboards from them rocked the hardest for several years and still works today (a very early P3 board). This little bastard got beat on the hardest of all my computers I'd have to say.
I have very little experience with their televisions, but with their great quality to price ratio of other products, I have high hopes for them. Couple that with the several great reviews I've read about their displays, I say good.
As for the price on your display there. Just under 600 bones for a 37" 720p display. Well that's a relatively good price. You might find cheaper, but for the most part it's going to be more expensive. Basically you are towards the lower side of the scale when it comes to price.
You might be concerned about a few things though.
First make sure it has HDCP or certain products won't work over HDMI... which is really dick if it doesn't.
Read some reviews on the speakers... personally I find a lot of HDTVs today are lacking horribly on sound quality to get the price down! If you aren't concerned about this, or like me use an independent sound system... then pass.
But yeah, I say dig it man. The price is good, and as I said, Soyo is actually a pretty good company cost/quality wise.

To be honest, the contrast ratio is low and the response time is slow. Contrast is the difference between white and black, and the response time is how fast the screen refreshes. If you'd sepnd a couple dollars more, this sharp has better specs http://hhgregg.com/ProductDetail.asp?SI ... dStore=All . Check them out in the store and decide for yourself. The faster response time and higher contrast ratio would be better for for gaming and HD TV.

i agree the response time is the most important feature most people don't know about with LCD's. Contrast is nice but with cheap LCD's you can't expect much. Just get your room dark and turn down the gamma settings. It will make things look a bit darker but blacks and deep colors will appear more accurate.
