How about a cheap 5 or 6 dollar WiiWare game? There are a lot of silly kid's games, and no disc for them to get dirty or lose is a plus.

Yeah my youngest 2 both love NSMBW but they find it really frustrating.

In fact I bought that game with the sole intention of enjoying it with the kids. I got home, put it on and within 10 mins Ollie (who was 4 at the time) was red faced and screaming 'I hate mario and I hate you!' I turned it off at that point and decided it was best enjoyed by myself. Co-op is harder anyway, especially hard when playing with a pair of frustrated kids.

My friend's daughter is 4 and she plays them >_>

The Lego games are a good suggestion too.

Wii Music.

As one who started music in school and continues to this day (~ 20 years of playing and counting), I am a BIG fan of childhood music education! And I actually think Wii Music does an OK job and laying down some fundamentals and would spark or encourage music appreciation in many young people.

Dude, MadWorld is perfect for kids!!

In all seriousness, though, there's a lot of WiiWare that would be great. It might be a bit frustrating, and it does use simple motion controls, but Fluidity is a great little WiiWare game.

Your 5 year old beat Sonic Colors? Seriously? I know it's not the hardest game in the world, but damn. I had trouble getting through chemical plant in sonic 2 when I was 8. . .

My son is 3 and here are a few of our favorites:

A Boy and His Blob - with assistance from dad on some levels
Epic Mickey
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Mario Kart Wii
Marvel Super Hero Squad
New Super Mario Bros
Skylanders
Smash Bros Brawl
TMNT Smash Up

We tried playing the Elmo Seasame street game, but he has no interest in it. All of the above games though he mainly likes the exploration aspects with the obvious exceptions of the fighters.
