What makes it the first truly next gen JRPG? Are there advances in gameplay mechanics from older JRPGs? Storytelling? Graphics?

I've played quite a lot of Xenoblade, and I disagree with this. It's not that Xenoblade isn't good, it is, very much so. I also don't believe that it's 'just another jrpg'. However, the 'innovations' it's bought, whilst fun, aren't exactly brand new. In fact, the battle system reminds me an awful lot of Final Fantasy XII, only simplified, and with less control.

To me it seems more of a good thing rather than some sort of major step forward.

And I love JRPGs so I've nothing to complain about.

It's essentially a single player mmorpg. If that is next gen, then so be it.
