There were 3 DKC games, the first one was released in 1994, around the same time as sonic&knuckles. Donkey Kong Country 3 was released after Super Mario 64 and Crash Bandicoot.

For the original Xbox, Half Life 2, I though it was a perfect end despite some slow down that the game contain.

There's still The Last Story yet to come, but Xenoblade Chronicles is certainly a contender. So is Kirby: Return to Dreamland and Rhythm Heaven Fever.

Pokemon Yellow and Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 for the original Game Boy
Shantae and Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets for the Game Boy Color
Magic Knight Rayearth for the Saturn (in the US at least)

a meta thought:
Wouldn't the dreamcast's stellar launch line-up technically also serve as a fitting swan song? To its parent, as well as itself.
