Mass effect 1 = Really hard to get through

I must be the average first person shooter fan. I picked up Mass Effect 1 and have been playing it. I throughly enjoy the storyline, but I have a hard time getting through the game.

The gameplay is good, it just gets boring shooting geth repeadely when some geth enemies are stronger then others even if they are just normal enemies and not bosses!

I am not sure why people love this game so much. I am definatly a syfy/shooter fan, but this game does not appeal to me as much. My opinion may change when i finish the game, but as of now. I just want to finish the game to see what happens. I love Star Wars old republic online, and I thought Mass effect 1 was going to be like that. Is there something wrong with me? How can a guy who loves syfy and shooters and star wars old republic online, dislike Mass effect 1?

I want so much to love it, but its just slow. People say it picks up in the 2nd and 3rd game.

Hmm not sure what to tell you here... I had no issues with the pace and couldn't get enough of it in my play through. Did you ever play the kotor games?

i am shepard and as far as star wars goes, i've only played the old republic online and love it.

The shooting is never fun in the first Mass Effect. Making Shepherd punch/kill people for no reason and throwing them around with my mind is mildly amusing, but I've been trying to play through this game since 2007 so that's about all I can offer.

If you genuinely don't like it, why not just skip to the next one? ME2 is a very different game.

The first Mass Effect is an RPG with shooter elements. The other Mass Effect games are shooters with RPG elements.

Still going to finish the game. Hoping Bioshock will be a better shooter.
