Decided to stop by a couple of places on my way to Easter dinner today, and I'm pretty glad I did. There is a Goodwill that is kind of out of my way, so I don't go there too often. (Which is odd, because I've actually found better stuff there than any other Goodwill I go to....) But anyway,

I came across some gaming stuff, but first, I found a couple of anime VHS tapes. Can't go wrong for $1 a piece. Tenchi The Movie even has an insert, similar to how DVD is now. Kinda cool.

I nabbed a PS1 game, The Italian Job, because it was cheap and I don't have it. And also, a black cart version of Maximum Carnage for the Mega Drive/Genesis. I'd still love to get a red cart version, but again, a game that I didn't already have.

Next, I found some Japanese import PS1 games. I don't own any, and I don't plan to play them, but they were a buck and kinda cool. I figured, why not?

The cases are really neat on some of the Japanese games. They are single disc, but the case is larger, like a double disc almost. Also, the plastic is more heavy duty than our NA jewel cases, and the word Playstation is engraved on the side.

Now, the thing that I was most pleased to find. The player looks to be brand new, and came with all of the pack in materials, and King Kong movie. The tag reads that it is missing the USB cable, so it's sold as-is.

As we all know, if you find something at Goodwill with a missing part, odds are that it is somewhere else in the store. I simply went to the cable bin in the back of the store, and grabbed a USB cable that fits. Unit works perfectly, and now I can buy $1 HD-DVD movies that I always find at flea markets. Score!

Didn't know there was a black cart version, thought they were all red. Guess I lucked out on the one I got.

I've noticed an absurd amount of Anime VHS showing up at local Goodwill stores.

$35 and minty @ PAX East (talked the dealer down from $70 - often sells for $50-$100+ on eBay).
