I can relate. My dad pretty much destroyed any chance I would ever believe in a damn thing he did by pushing his Texas upbringing on me.
Don't throw around "Texas upbringing" as a bad thing. Let me ask this- was he from anywhere near Dallas/Houston? Because that's the problem. That part of the state isn't that great. Still better than NY.
I've gone to church, watching a bit of TV with family, going to eat dinner later at the grandparents.
Going to church in a bit, and then celebrating with the whole family at home. The lame part is that I have to dash back to school later today so that I can cram my homework in before going to bed.

That's the spot. I can't stand heat, so I can't pass fair judgement on the state itself, but I tend to avoid interacting with that half of my family.
I'm having flashbacks to last year's easter thread.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

Ko-Koo...(30 somethin New Yorkers come out of the woodworks)
Suuu-wee..Another 30
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.
This thread was about what you plan to get into not about putting down religion or what state is better than another. I just wanted to share some bunny spirit, i guess some people have to pee on anything nice.

Can't stand big cities. New York is bad. I'm sorry, can't help how I feel.
But sabrage, I gotta say, that is a bad spot for the overly zealous baptists, and the rich big oil man stereotype. Probably the worst part of the state. Including the swamps, desert, the border, and Austin.
Cough, sorry. Ressurection of Jesus and Bunnies. Yep.
