Green component cable into yellow composite plug = black and white picture, if you just need to test.

Wow, I just realized how old this thread is, and how much work I put into that list a while back, XD.

Anything I didn't cover? I've got some free time to tweak/update the list.

Made loads of updates to thelolotov's original list and clarified it. I found it odd that he made distinctions regarding RGB and PAL, so I eliminated those as there's quite a few of us here in NTSC Land with SCART to component converters and RGB monitors.

Why is component considered better than RGB for some of these consoles?

I always assumed RGB would be better, but I love learning more about this stuff.

Note that certain older models of Xbox 360 are not able to utilize HDMI; therefore, I have mine set up with VGA.

Component can support progressive scan and 480p whereas RGB doesn't to my knowledge.

Oh, ok, that makes sense. So, component is kinda a middleground then.

I assume that, if I plan on downscaling my output to 240p 15kHz, that I would be much better off with a VGA cable?

If you have to downscale it, you might be better using VGA as opposed to converting it to 15 KHz RGB.
