I have a huge backlog and enjoy RPGs. I probably won't play this game for a while (years) but is it worth getting before the print run is gone or should I forget about it?
I'm worried that I will kick myself in a couple years if I pass it up, but I don't see myself playing it for a while.

I've seen nothing but positive press for this game, and not just because it's one of the few good RPGs on the Wii.SpaceBooger wrote:I have a huge backlog and enjoy RPGs. Re: Xenoblade Chronicles
I imagine it's only a decision you can make. The worst that can happen is it ends up getting wide release and is easy to find and maybe goes down to $20 at an all time low.
So you'd end up overpaying by $30 for what everyone claims is an amazing game.
Doesn't sound like too bad of a proposition to me.

Kotaku's review suggested it is overhyped and merely decent.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles
Since when was Kotaku a legit source on gaming opinions?
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles
I was gonna say it, but I thought I was the only one who considered Kotaku a joke.
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles
I played this game for 1.5 hours last night an I am blown away. I don't keep up on modern gaming outside of the Wii, but this is definitely something I am going to get into. To me, it feels like an MMORPG, but single-player. The party interaction, the quests, the items… all feel ripped straight out of any post-WoW MMO. You can't help but think this when you walk around town and quest-givers have exclamation marks above their head and show on the mini-map. This is exactly the sort of game I want to play.
The story and intro are amazing. From my limited experience on current consoles, the cinematic thing is sorely overdone, but it fits perfectly here and doesn't take things to the extreme. I have yet to see another cutscene. I also like how the "zones" are seamless.
I'm still trying to figure out what the hell the affinity chart does, and if I should sell or keep my random parts I found. The quests seem to give a ton of money. I'm also nervous about putting these power gems I have into my starting weapon. Does anyone know if you can remove the gems safely?

Gems can all be removed no problem. Make sure you remember to take them off equipment before you change it though, as they'll stay attached to it. If you sell equipment with gems attached though, they get taken off and put back in your inventory.Zing wrote:I played this game for 1.5 hours last night an I am blown away. Increasing affinity between characters allows them to use certain skills from each other (not to be confused with arts, which are the attacks. Skills are like innate support abilities.) If you're gonna do lots of sidequests, I'd advise keeping hold of the random stuff you find, because you'll be asked for it a lot. Also, sidequests give you loads of money, so you'll never be short. I'm a 7 digits worth of cash where I am in the game, and I dont think I ever ran out.
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles
Screw it, I'm keeping mine sealed and playing it via Dolphin. I don't want to spend money on a product (a Wii, that is) when the homebrew alternative is superior
