I have had the idea and desire of playing through from start to finish with one of each class for a while. I thought of suggesting here after seeing the "lets play D2" vibe, so indeed on that aspect Moz was the seed. However, this was a different idea from his own "all day session", which furthermore I understood as being the past weekend (whereas I was only starting next weekend, which at the time was a bit further away temporally).
I think I stated early on we'd be playing over more than one day to keep it manageable. I don't and didn't mean to steal people from Moz's idea, which is actually much less restrictive (and so I'd expect, more popular).
In hindsight I re-read the thread and I sort of hi-jacked Mozgus idea (I refer specifically to Raz*, which seemed to be interested to play with Moz and may have not done this in the end), for which I apologize. I think there was stuff that obviously wasn't sufficiently clear and confusion arose, which is always nasty.
Moz, I actually want you on board on this one - see the posts in the end of page 2. But not only you never said "I'm up for this and I'll play _this_ class", you later came and said you couldn't even play anymore (although you fixed that). All in all, I just assumed you didn't care for the particular restrictions I was imposing.
As I said, if anyone drops out I'll be quite happy to have you on board (if you still want to, that is
).
Ivo.
*In fact, now I'm uncertain if Raz is even on board on "my group". Raz, you initially said you were playing the Zon before I suggested my idea. Are you actually up for this, or did I just confuse myself?

I don't want all this uncomfortable politics. I just want to play with some forum members. I have no issue about spreading it out across weekends. I'm not the type to play all day anyway. I take breaks from just about any game every hour.Ivo wrote:I have had the idea and desire of playing through from start to finish with one of each class for a while. Hell, I'm still confused about your exact plans, pretending I was even part of them to begin with. Have you even announced what the game name and realm will be? You probably have, and you probably said it in the mess of text above, but it really needs to stand out in a bold color or something, and this thing needs it's own thread, so maybe I'll split it into one.
Server will be US East, I think I've said it somewhere. I haven't decided on game name and pass. Part of the mess is I'm posting this on two forums, and e-mailing a friend as well. It was a bit bad to organize to be honest.
I'm still checking if we will have a ventrilo server for those that want voice chat.
I'm not sure if anyone suggested a chat channel to hang around for this and in general for playing with other board members - if nobody suggested one, let's go with "Racketboy" on US East. I will try to be there mostly all day on Sunday, and will play with anyone up for it outside sessions, as long as I have time.

Sorry I just now noticed this.
I probably won't have time to join in, but if you want to have a "special edition" Together Retro for this, you guys could do it.
We'll still have our "regularly scheduled" installments, but if somebody can write me up the verbage for the post, I can post it sometime.

Racket, what about advertising Mozgus original idea? You can put a front post tomorrow or Friday with the game name, and saying that on these Saturdays and / or Sundays people can either gather or just join some on-going game and play.racketboy wrote:Sorry I just now noticed this.

I suggest US East as the realm, channel name "Racketboy" for people to gather around, and if someone creates an on-going game or more if they fill, it could be named "Racketboy" / "Racketboy1", all should have the same password e.g. "Retro" (you can change them in your post, as long as it's announced everyone will know what it is supposed to be).
As for the 1 of each class party of 7, I was thinking of doing a mini-log of it, but I'm not sure how interesting it will be. I'll see how it goes and if there's any funny stuff happening.
Well you guys are gonna have to write up something because I don't understand it all
I'm just trying to help out.

Guys, I wrote this up. Suggest changes and then we will ask Racket to post it on the blog.
TITLE: Together Retro Special Edition: Diablo 2 on Battle.net and "ORDERS"
Motivated by Blizzard's announcement of Diablo 3 (and the rather enticing gameplay video), forum regular Mozgus suggested a revival of playing Diablo 2 on Battle.net (most likely, playing with the expansion, Lord of Destruction which noticeably improves the original). Also, Blizzard recently released patch 1.12, which conveniently lets you play without the CDs (you obviously still need to have legit CD-keys!)
The idea was basically to play with other members of our community rather than with unknown people. Anyone interested in this is welcome to join channel "racketboy" on Battle.net's US East. Other members will hopefully gather in that channel before / between games, or try directly joining games named "racketboy", (or, if there's need for it "racketboy1" etc), with password "retro".
Although anyone is obviously free to join whenever and create their "racketboy" games, without set times and dates it is relatively unlikely that many people will be online to play together - for this reason we decided to make this blog post to give the idea more notoriety, and also to suggest weekend "official" sessions, which I decided dub with a silly name to help people remember it: ORDERS ("Official" Racketboy Diablo 2 East Revival Sessions).
The 1st ORDERS will take place this next Saturday the 12th, centered on TIME OF CHOICE, EST (=time in BST and time in GMT)
Feel free to suggest the removal of the silliness
