Post by jackspicer »

I was in town today and i saw a copy of ''final fantasy IV chrono trigger'' for ps1. Its in one of those double cases like re2 is in and it was still sealed, i know my game exchange allways jacks up the price of any game if it's hard to find, so i didnt know what to pay for it, it was 24.99 so i picked it up anyway, oh and after tax it was 27$ i hate sales tax. so i get home look it up and i can get it easy for 17.99 shipped ya big surprise

but has any body else played this, have they changed the games at all? and can someone tell me about final fantasy IV is it the nes version, is it actually the america FFII?

They added cutscenes and slowdown. It has been awhile, but I remember the slowdown really bothering me back in the day. I have been told that playing them on a PS2 fixes most of the slowdown, but I have yet to test that.

And yes FFIV is the US FFII.

They didn't really bother me. Almost all PS1/2 RPG's have terrrible load times....so it seems normal unless you played the heck out of the SNES game! I think Chrono Trigger looks great and I liked the addition of the cut scenes. The new items and reatures for FFIV were not really anything special to me, but i think it's a nice version of the game.

Loading and saving a game in FFIV takes an eternity. The music on both titles is not accurate, but passable. I's rather recommend FFIV for GBA if you can't find the SNES cart.

Well, I would wait until you play it, maybe the loading times are really not much worse than those of other RPGs on the system.

It's still a solid buy despite the load times, considering you paid about half of what a Chrono Trigger cart would cost on it's own.

you're right, it is pretty slow on the saves/loads compared to the SNES version. But pretty normal compared to other PS1/PS2 games.
