Finally got myself an SP after using the original model for so long. Very pleased with it. One problem I had with my older Game Boys is that they're painful to use with headphones. I get loud noise or crackling, even when the volume is all the way down, and it made them impossible to play with headphones. All of those ate AA batteries though, and my sister's DS never had that problem.
So, does the SP get lots of audio noise with headphones? Are the first party adapters better than third party ones? Wouldn't want to spend the cash and get an earful of buzzing. Thanks!

I would say no there isn't any crackling, but then again I had no problem with my original models either.

The GBA sounds okay to me, I use regular mini headphones with a SP adapter. The real pain is getting that adapter to use regular headphones. Save the unique connector if your SP headphones ever short out, a mini plug can be soldered in for standard headphones.

You misunderstand, that adapter itself is getting hard to find locally. i already have one, but it is now very uncommon. The soldering alternate suggestion is for a defective proprietary GBA headphone assembly, not the GBA itself.
