Saturn video output (PAL/NTSC?)

Post by Windir »

I'm going to get a Saturn but they're expensive and harder to find in my country so I'm thinking of getting an American one as they're plentiful and cheap but I'm worried about the output signal. I'm going to get the console modded so that I can do the region patching to play PAL games on a US console but what will the video signal be? If I'm playing a PAL game on an American console will the outputted video be NTSC or PAL?

I ask because although my monitors support NTSC, I want to be able to take it over to friends' houses who might not be able to display NTSC.

I have had lot's of Saturn games in my day, and I never remember the screen flipping like a Euro PS1 games would. All it does it cut off the bottom IIRC. I remember playing Wipeout 2097 and that was only release in Europe. Plus if you do the country mod, maybe that fixes it? Anyone?

Of course I'm talking about playing PAL games on NTSC system.

Thanks. It sounds like it outputs the video signal of the console regardless of game. Not what I wanted to hear but thank you anyway. :)
